Title: : “Annotated Bibliography of Research in the Teaching of English.” RL Larson and A Bechan. Research in the Teaching of English (May 1992), p. 211-234.

Persuasive Writing and Reading
“Reports a study of whether sixth-graders’ ability at writing persuasive discourse can be improved by guided practice in writing persuasive discourse and reading persuasive discourse.” [Comment: Result inconclusive. Sounds like a good idea to try. RayS.]

Basic Writers: A Speak-Write Approach
“…procedure in which writers were asked to draft a writing, then deliver an oral monologue on the subject of the writing, then revise the writing.” [Comment: Another “results inconclusive.” But the idea is interesting. RayS.]
