Question: What happens in literature
classes?
Answer: “The majority of time in class
was spent on comprehension and on the learning of literary terms and concepts.”
DA Zancanella. 1989. P. 442.
Comment: But how was comprehension taught? I’m a
strong believer in beginning by asking students about what they did not
understand or what they have questions about. I would only use the textbook’s
questions or my questions, if the students did not raise the issue in their
questions. RayS.
