Research: Basic Writers

Question: What are some writing characteristics of basic (inexperienced) writers?

Answer: “Found that in general, basic writers overuse pronouns, underuse modifiers, and write with vague, imprecise nouns and verbs.” EM Payne. 1984. P. 194.

Comment: Sounds as if specificity would be a good writing characteristic to work on for both basic and skilled writers. RayS.
