Research: IQ and Writing: Differences in Vocabulary and Syntax

Question: How do high IQ seventh graders differ from average seventh graders in writing?

Answer: “Showed that high IQ seventh graders used more uncommon words than did average seventh graders, with no differences in syntactic complexity or diversity of word choice.”ED Pendarvis. 1983. 194-195.

Comment: The high IQers use uncommon words, but apparently those words have little effect on their writing in which diversity of word choice is significant in style. RayS.
